Our Story

Two floors, two teams, one building, and one mission: to share our passion and strengthen community while providing honest and expert advice.  We are your cycling and sporting goods headquarters, and are fully committed to being customer-centric.

In 1912, Western Cycle & Motor Co. was established in Regina on 11th ave, close to Broad St. We are one of Regina’s oldest businesses, and have always been locally owned.

In 1916 the store moved locations to Hamilton St. just north of the old city hall, and many years later, in 1972, we moved once again to 1745 Hamilton St.

In 1972, Brian Stennes purchased the growing business, and Western Cycle moved for a final time in August, 2003 to the present location at 1550 8th Ave.

In 1974, Western Cycle joined a dealer-owned buying co-op called Sports Distributors of Canada, and the store was later renamed Western Cycle Source for Sports.

Source for Sports is a group of affiliated stores across Canada that work together to create extra value for their customers by collective purchasing power.  This allows us to offer best-in-class products and selection at a competitive price.  Our slogan is WE KNOW OUR STUFF, because we put an emphasis on product knowledge and highly trained staff.  All stores are separately managed and owned by local members of the community, just like ours.

Western Cycle is still family owned and operated. Most of our full time staff have been with us for many years, and we are proud to regard them as family as well.  We believe we have one of the most friendliest, passionate and hardworking teams on the field.  This is how we are able to stay true to our mission.

Our customers enjoy shopping on 2 distinct floors with lots of retail space:  the main floor is devoted to team sports, mainly hockey, baseball/softball, lacrosse, football, and soccer.  The entire second floor houses the largest bicycle showroom in the province and a fully equipped service shop. We even have an indoor test ride track!

Along the way, we’ve worked ourselves into the fabric of Regina and forged deep community relationships. We were voted Best Sporting Goods store in 2019 and 2020 by Prairie Dog Magazine, got written up in Pedal Magazine, and play an active role in local bike clubs.
