Western Cycle Rides Presents;
gravelista
The Gravelista Series embodies the spirit of adventure and philanthropy on two wheels, offering cyclists a trio of bike events within the Great Cycle Challenge (GCC) framework, all aimed at supporting the noble cause of the SickKids foundation in Canada.
Conceived by our ride ambassador, Michelle Dominey, in 2023, the Gravelista Series offers two gravel rides each with two distance options, and one family-friendly Wascana Park ride. Riders can expect beautiful scenery, great company, and great memories, all while making a tangible difference in children's healthcare.
At Western Cycle, our commitment to the GCC runs deep, with our team members actively participating in the challenge for years. Embracing the ethos of community and compassion, we proudly adopted the Gravelista as an Official WCR ride series this year, further amplifying our dedication to pedal for a purpose and champion the health and well-being of future generations.
The Rides
The Park Ride, August 10th
We're modelling this one after our fan-favorite, family-friendly, Wednesday Night Taco Ride. We'll meet at the marina at Wascana Park and head out to explore some of Regina's beautiful pathways. As always, there will be stops along the way for bike trivia, trick alley, ice cream, and we'll finish the day with refreshments on Bar Willow's beautiful patio. This ride is free to attend.
Avonlea, August 17th
This was the location of our second ride last season. We'll offer two distances, a fast and fun 25-30 km route, with the option of a challenging add-on that will bring the total to 50 km. After a great day of riding, we'll meet up at Long Creek Golf and Country Club for post ride refreshments. This ride requires a minimum $25 donation to our GCC team, Queen City Cruisers, or to any of our individual team members. One donation enters you into both of the gravel rides.
Regina Beach, August 31st
August 31st is the last official day of the GCC, and we're saving the best for last. We have 3 distances to choose from all starting and finishing in scenic Regina Beach. Ride the 60 km loop through Lumsden, a 40 km loop on the grids, or combine the two for a 100 km day. When the ride is finished, we'll head to the Waterfront Bar Grill to grab some refreshments and celebrate the completion of another year's Great Cycle Challenge. This is going to be one epic day! This ride requires a minimum $25 donation to our GCC team, Queen City Cruisers, or to any of our individual team members. One donation enters you into both of the gravel rides.
